Standardized preventive maintenance schedules across a healthcare enterprise is critical. They ensure that all hospitals across the enterprise are maintaining equipment in the same way increasing patient safety, compliance and reporting.
FacilityONE has recently completed a project to standardize PM schedules across the CommonSpirit Healthcare network. The list below are the assets that now have standardized PM schedules.
Here is a list of these required PMs:
- Air Handlers - Quarterly
- Automatic Transfer Switches - Monthly
- Chillers - Monthly & Quarterly
- Backflow Preventer - Quarterly & Annually
- Emergency Battery Powered Lighting - Monthly & Annually
- Eye Wash Station - Weekly
- Fire Extinguishers - Monthly & Annually
- Fire Pump - Weekly, Monthly & Annually
- Generator - Weekly, Monthly, Annually & 36-Month
- Line Isolation Monitors - Monthly
If gaps in the requirements were identified, FacilityONE met with facility managers and directors at the facility to identify the reason for those gaps. If there were legitimate reasons to not have the PM in the hospital's PM program, such as the state only requiring Annual certification of backflows as opposed to Quarterly, the facility was excused from requiring that PM.
Otherwise, we added the missing requirements to its PM program.
